All of our manufacturing partners are third-party audited through Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) or amfori BSCI, which helps us ensure workers are provided safe and healthy working conditions and fair wages. 

• SMETA audits help us ensure our materials and manufacturing partners adhere to higher labor, health and safety, and environmental performance standards to protect workers from unsafe and unethical working conditions.
• BSCI audits measure 13 social performance areas including labor, health and safety, environmental performance, and ethics issues to protect workers from unsafe conditions, overwork, discrimination, low pay, and forced labor.

We look to align with trusted certifications to ensure we’re making responsible decisions when it comes to materials, manufacturing, and social compliance. 

Because we’re a small team with limited access to the on-the-ground operations of our material suppliers, we rely on material certifications to make sure our materials are responsibly crafted. Our key material certifications help us ensure our finished materials are made without the use of toxic chemicals, and are genuinely derived from recycled or responsibly-managed raw material feedstocks.

Some of the key material manufacturing certifications we work with are OEKO-TEX Standard 100, Reborn Recycled Polyester, Global Recycled Standard (GRS), and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

• OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification covers international requirements regarding harmful substances and chemicals and is updated annually to account for new learnings and regulations. This helps us ensure all components of the product, from fabric to thread, have been tested against a list of 1,000 toxic chemicals cleared as safe for humans and the environment. 
• Global Recycled Standard certification helps us ensure our recycled synthetics are derived from at least 20% recycled materials and verifies material traceability and manufacturing ethics throughout material processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading, and distribution of the product.
• Reborn Recycled Polyester certification helps us ensure our recycled polyester is guaranteed to be made from directly collected 100% post-consumer plastic. 
• Forest Stewardship Council certification helps us ensure our paper-based packaging and hangtags come from responsibly managed, FSC-certified forests. 
• Intertek certification helps us ensure our fabrics are not manufactured with harmful chemicals such as Azo colorants, heavy metals, pesticides, fungicides, or formaldehyde and helps ensure fabric longevity with rigorous durability and colorfastness testing.

When it comes to packaging, we do our best to minimize waste and source responsibly. Most of our products are shipped in 100% home and industrial compostable bio-based mailers. Made from a combination of PLA and PBAT, our mailers will break down within 180 at home or within 90 days at an industrial facility. 

Our woven labels are made from GRS-certified recycled polyester at a facility engaged in water and energy conservation. 

Our hangtags, button bags, adhesive labels, advertising materials, cardboard, and paper packaging are made from REACH-compliant, FSC-certified recycled paper printed with ECO-UV inks.

When our pieces make their way to you, we look for logistics partners who share our values. Our logistics partners currently utilize upwards of 30% renewable energy at their facilities and are committed to increasing this percentage in the coming years. They also consolidate shipments to make transportation more efficient and reduce emissions from trucking. 

Our warehousing partners participate in recycling programs to avoid excess packaging waste in transport and recycle at least 75% of waste generated from their facilities weekly.
